Orange, NSW  2800 Map

3 Challenges, 1 Winner.
Orange Mountain Bike Club is excited to host it's first ever Gravity event at the Lake Canobolas Mountain Bike Park. After the years of work we now have 3 descending stages that will challenge your skills all in uniquely different ways..

FLOW: In2it is a top to bottom flow trail with big berms, long rollers and high speed. Popular with both cross country and enduro riders.

TECH: Highway to Hell downwards joined to Sewer Rat form our event day only stage Rat Out of Hell. A very rocky, technical, steep, black diamond descent.This will suit downhill as well as advanced cross country riders.

JUMP: Yaba is our popular new jump track featuring multiple large jumps and epic size berms all at very high speed.

2 timed runs of each stage, the winner will be determined by the best total time.
All stages will be open earlier in the day for mandatory practice.
Due to the advanced and high risk nature of the stages (particularly the Tech and Jump) we recommend that all riders should be familiar and confident with these trails before competing.
Entry is open to people from anywhere, full face helmets will be mandatory and other body protection is also advisable.
A MTBA race license is also required.

Orange Mini Gravity Enduro

Orange Mini Gravity Enduro

May 20, 10:00am - Sep 9, 1:00pm

Kinross Forest Map

OMC are running a mini gravity enduro at Kinross. Woo.

Course map here:
www.trailforks.com/route/kinross-gravity-enduro-september-2018/

We're aiming for a 3-4 hour event (with practise runs). We have 4 stages planned.

Competitors will have an un-timed peddle to the top of the 'special stages'. The special stages are mainly descending and will be timed. The total time for all the special stages will give you your race time.

Full face helmets are *compulsory* for the timed stages.

We'll be including time for an untimed practise run or two before each timed stage. Competitors will be required to do at least one practise run for each stage, this helps put a bit of the endurance in enduro. It also gives us time to move timing equipment and timing people between stages.

Course: This is a very rough guide to the course (it may change). A map will be provided at some point including liaison routes.
* Special stage 1 - Start on fire road on forest boundary, Simmo's Special (also known as John Doe) and then down 'race track'.
~1.4km
~88m drop
~3:30? min maybe?

* Special stage 2 - Start on simmo's special .. then forks off
~0.8km?
~40m drop
~1:30? min maybe?

* Special stage 3 - Colesy's
~0.4km
~40m drop
~1:00 min

* Special stage 4 - Brown Hornet
~0.8km
~45m
~2:00 min

Entry:$10

Non-MTBA members: add $30 (U19 $18) for a day race license. If you have not been an MTBA member for the last 3 years you have the option of signing up for a free trial membership at joinmtba.com. If you join MTBA then choose our club to join!

Helmets:
A full face helmet must be worn properly for every special stage. As per MTBA policy (www.mtba.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/Communique-Helmets.pdf)

U17:
Under 17 riders have some mandatory equipment that must be worn during special stages. These are also recommended for all riders:
* Knee pads
* Elbow pads or covered elbows or long sleeve jersey
* Full finger gloves
* A neck brace is recommended but not compulsory. A neck brace should only be used with a full face helmet.
* Fully enclosed foot wear.
* Protective eyewear

U15:
All the above U17 stuff applies for the U15. We'd also prefer if you had an experienced over 18 rider who is riding with you. We'd also encourage you to ride the course before the race day.

U13:
You will have to convince us that you can handle racing on this course to enter.

Bikes:
You can only use one bike and it must be working well and have bar ends (reduces risk of impaling) and functioning brakes. We may tell you you can't ride if it's deemed unsafe.

If any eBikes turn up we'll run a separate category for 'em.

All riders must be self sufficient including carrying their own food, water and spares.

Overtaking:
If you are caught by another rider during a special stage you have to pull off the racing line to allow a safe pass. The *overtaking* rider should clearly call which way they are going to pass.

We'll have a suitable start gap between riders. Please try to self seed as best you can.

Timing:
We'll be using webscorer. There'll be a tablet screen tap to start you at the top and one at the bottom. Make sure your number is visible.
Please bring your Orange club race plate, if you have one.

Schedule:
Everyone will leave from rego after briefing at 10am on the first liaison stage. Followed by a special stage 1 practise run and climbing the liaison to the top of stage 1 again. Racing will start on the special stage 1 at 11:00. Then immediately you can liaise up to practise special stage 2 etc etc

IN2IT ❄️

Come out to the Lake track on Saturday the 14th April and show your support for Steve Peterson.

Steve was involved in accident with a car while riding his bike on Cadia Road. He was air lifted to hospital in Sydney with serious injuries. He is now out of a life threatening condition but has high spinal injury and will have a long road to recovery.
Steve is an awesome supporter of the club, despite a busy career as a doctor and having two young kids, he’s always found time to help. Steve organised the excellent medical service for the last two Nationals and Back Yamma.
Its now time to come together as a club to help Steve and family through these very tough times.

On Saturday the 14th of April Leo Presslaber and John Perrett will be attempting a 12hr solo challenge out at the lake. They aim to race/ride from 8am to 8pm.
All are welcome to come and test themselves as we will be setting up the timing gear etc.
Given the tragic events with Steve Peterson a week ago we are going to be collecting a $25 entry fee to be donated to Steve’s family to help cover travel, accommodation and childcare costs while Steve is in hospital in Sydney.
We are thinking of this more as a personal challenge and not a race although completing the most amount of laps would certainly help earn you hero status!
Teams also welcome.

It's the first Sunday of the month so time to get back in to some track maintenance. Sunday is expected to be a scorcher so we'll be starting early and finish at 12pm. jobs to do:
-Spray edges of track at top of Dinosaur Breakout.
-Fill in ruts on bottom berms of In2it.
-Trim edges along the sides of Woggle Valley.
-Remove the large branch that's siting beside the edge of Linky Jim, it makes me shudder every time I fly by.
-Some track works to be done at bottom of Linky Jim.

Remember to bring sun protection and plenty of water. We'll try to get in a ride after if it's not too hot.
